How FtM mastectomy works
Consultation and ALD file
Assessment of breast volume and skin quality. Choice of appropriate technique. Assistance with ALD 31 file compilation if applicable.
Pre-operative assessment
Baseline mammography, blood tests, anaesthetist consultation. Mandatory 15-day reflection period.
Surgery
Under general anaesthetic. Periareolar technique for smaller volumes or double incision with free nipple graft for larger volumes. Duration 2 to 3 hours.
Hospital stay
1 night in clinic. Drains removed on D+2. Compressive dressings maintained for 4 weeks.
Follow-up
Suture removal at D+14. Consultations at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months. Final result visible at 6 months.
