Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule naturally present in the skin, used in injections to fill deep wrinkles, restore facial volumes (cheeks, lips, chin) and provide deep hydration. The result is immediate, natural and reversible.

Step by step

How the session unfolds

1

Medical consultation

Discussion of the areas to treat, evaluation of anatomy, choice of the appropriate product and volumes.

2

Application of anaesthetic cream

A topical cream is applied 30 minutes before to minimise discomfort.

3

Targeted injections

Precise injections with a fine syringe or cannula depending on the area. The session lasts 20 to 45 minutes.

4

Moulding and assessment

The product is moulded for a uniform result. The result is evaluated immediately in the mirror with the patient.

5

Follow-up at day 15

Check-up consultation to evaluate the definitive result and perform a touch-up if necessary.

The session fee will be communicated during the consultation. No surprises: fees are transparent and available on the fees page.

What you can expect

Expected results

The result is visible immediately after the session. The treated lips, cheeks or folds regain volume and definition. Slight swelling within 48 hours is normal and resolves spontaneously.

The definitive result is assessed at day 15 during the follow-up consultation. A touch-up can be performed at that point if necessary. Duration varies according to the area and metabolism: on average 12 months for volumes, 9 months for the lips.

FAQ — Hyaluronic Acid Paris 16th

How long does hyaluronic acid last?+
Duration varies by area: 6 to 9 months for the lips, 12 to 18 months for nasolabial folds, cheeks or chin. The patient's metabolic activity also influences the duration.
Is hyaluronic acid reversible?+
Yes, this is one of the great advantages of hyaluronic acid. If the result is unsatisfactory or a complication arises, a hyaluronidase injection dissolves the product within a few hours. This enzyme, administered in the office, quickly corrects an excessive or asymmetric result — something that is not possible with surgical implants.
Can Botox and hyaluronic acid be combined?+
Absolutely. These two treatments are complementary: Botox treats expression lines (dynamic wrinkles), while hyaluronic acid fills static wrinkles and restores volumes. They can be performed during the same session.
Is there any social downtime after injections?+
No, return to activities is immediate. Slight swelling or small bruises may appear within 48 hours after injections (especially on the lips), but they resolve quickly.
Which areas can be treated with hyaluronic acid?+
The most common areas are: nasolabial folds, cheeks, lips, chin, temples, tear troughs, hands, and the décolletage. Dr. de Clermont-Tonnerre adapts the treatment to each individual's anatomy.
Is there a risk of necrosis with hyaluronic acid?+
Skin necrosis is a rare but serious complication related to accidental vascular occlusion during injection. This risk justifies consulting only practitioners trained in vascular aesthetic medicine who have hyaluronidase available in their office to act immediately in case of arterial compression. Dr. de Clermont-Tonnerre, a plastic surgeon, has a thorough knowledge of facial vascular anatomy and applies rigorous safety protocols.
Can hyaluronic acid injections be done during pregnancy or breastfeeding?+
No. Hyaluronic acid injections are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Although no studies have reported any proven risk, as a precaution all injectable aesthetic treatments are deferred until the end of breastfeeding. Dr. de Clermont-Tonnerre will propose an appropriate treatment plan after this period.
How many syringes are needed for a treatment?+
The number of syringes depends on the areas to treat and the volume to correct. As a general rule: half a syringe to one syringe is sufficient for the lips or a single fold; 1 to 2 syringes for the cheeks; and 1 syringe for the chin. For an overall facial rejuvenation, 2 to 4 syringes may be required in a single session. Dr. de Clermont-Tonnerre establishes the treatment plan during the consultation.
What is the right age to start hyaluronic acid injections?+
There is no legal minimum age other than the 18 years required in France. In practice, the first injections often concern patients aged 25 to 35 wishing to harmonise volumes (lips, chin) or to soften the first folds. From the age of 40, correcting laxity and restoring volumes are the most frequent indications. The medical consultation determines whether the treatment is appropriate for your age and needs.
What is the difference between a filler and a skin booster?+
A filler (high-viscosity hyaluronic acid) is a dense gel used to fill wrinkles and restore volumes — it creates a mechanical filling effect. A skin booster (low-viscosity hyaluronic acid, such as Profhilo) does not create volume but hydrates and revitalises the skin from within. Both are complementary: fillers treat specific areas, while skin boosters improve the overall quality of the skin.
Do hyaluronic acid injections cause weight gain?+
No. Injectable hyaluronic acid is a locally acting gel that works only in the injected area. It does not enter the general circulation in any significant amount and has no effect on weight or body shape. The quantity injected during an aesthetic session (less than 3 ml in total) bears no relation to the physiological circulating volumes.
