French Health Insurance Coverage

Breast reduction may be covered by the Assurance Maladie when the following criteria are met:

Yes, a supportive, underwire-free bra is prescribed immediately after surgery and worn 24 hours a day for 6 weeks. It supports the operated breasts, reduces swelling and improves healing. After 6 weeks, wearing a sports bra during physical activity is recommended. Underwired bras can be worn again after 3 months.
What pre-operative assessment is required?+
The pre-operative assessment includes a mammogram and/or breast ultrasound, standard blood tests and an anaesthetic consultation. If French health insurance coverage is being sought, a documented medical file (standardised clinical photographs, measurements, description of symptoms) must be prepared for the prior agreement request to the CPAM.
